I had some readers ask the following question…”What is a break barrel air rifle?”
A break barrel air rifle or pellet gun is a gun in which the acton is cocked by “breaking” the barrel in a downward motion from the action. This process cocks the trigger and charges the gun, making it ready to fire.
Here is an example of a break barrel pellet gun…
To cock or charge the rifle, simply grab the end of the barrel and pull it down.
Here is the Gamo Hornet Maxxim pellet gun with the barrel “broken”. Now it can be loaded with a single pellet. Once a pellet has been loaded into the barrel, the barrel is then pushed back to its original position. Now you’re ready to fire.
Break barrel pellet guns are quick to reload and shoot compared to variable pump pellet guns.
