So what are PBA pellets?
PBA stands for Performance Ballistic Alloy. PBA pellets are made from a non-lead alloy and designed to penetrate a target whereas lead pellets are designed to expand or mushroom and release its energy inside the target. Sometimes penetration is minimal with lead pellets.
Gamo PBA Armor pellets are much harder than lead, about 50% harder and therefore can penetrate 100% deeper. This can make the same air rifle more lethal because of the deeper penetration. PBA is harder than lead but is still very accurate when shot through a rifled air gun barrel. The rear skirt expands and grips the rifling. Weight retention in hunting situations is 90%.
The Gamo PBA Armor pellets are a win win situation for hunting. The pellets are non-toxic and more lethal on game. Accuracy is maintained with the PBA alloy.
