The Crosman Optimus is a break barrel single shot pellet gun. It is a mid-level gun that is great for hunting small game or target shooting. The stock is hard wood sporter style that will accommodate a left or right hand shooter. The wood stock gives the Optimus a good solid feel not like a cheap plastic pellet gun. It weighs a hefty 7.125 lbs.
The Optimus is easy to cock and has substantial pellet velocities. Alloy pellets reach 1,200 fps while lead pellets go 1,000 fps. This is powerful enough for hunting small game like birds, rats, squirrels, raccoons, coyote, etc.
The Optimus trigger is a 2 stage adjustable. The barrel is rifled and has a fiber optic front sight and micro adjustable rear. A 4 x 32 mm scope is optional and a good idea for hunting. The scope will allow you to shoot tighter groups at longer ranges.
The Optimus received 4 1/2 stars out of 5 stars from costumers. It is a great gun. Everyone loved the quality, accuracy and power. The price is really attractive too. It retails for $109.00 without a scope and $220 with a scope. The wood stock really sets this rifle apart from cheap rifles. Most pellet guns do require a break-in period of 100-200 shots. The rifle will typically shoot better and become quieter.
You cannot go wrong with the Crosman Optimus. It’s a lot of gun for a little over $100.
